Who is the strongest god Kratos has ever faced? ›

TL;DR: People say Baldur is the strongest God Kratos has faced. Logic dictates that it's Zeus, the most powerful being in all of Greek Mythology (at least when it comes to God of War, not too well versed on actual myths) with the only exception being Kratos himself.

Ares is portrayed as one of the physically strongest gods, at least of the second generation of Olympians, the likes of Zeus and Poseidon were far, far above any of their children. Ares' favorite ability was turning men against each-other.

Zeus is the king of the god so powerful all thy other gods can not drag him from his throne. Kratos was a minor “daímōn” (δαίμων) personification of strength. No contest, Zeus.

Other characters like Alucard, Ōnoki, Anos Voldigoad, Lelouch, Kaguya Otsutsuki, and many more possess unique abilities and powers that can disintegrate, immobilize, or overpower Kratos in combat.

He later avenges the deaths of his family and becomes the new "God of War" after killing Ares. Kratos is eventually revealed to be a demigod and the son of Zeus, who later betrays him.

Fear Factor. Kratos is afraid of being found by others who might know of his deeds. He's afraid of how his legacy will come to affect Atreus, his son, and he's afraid that if the boy knows his history, he'll despise him.

Ares, the original god of war, unless Kratos unseats him off of his throne and title. This was no easy feat and his boss fight is a testament to that. The battle between Ares and Kratos is one of the first truest combats between two gods.

1 Weakness: His Nightmares

Up until God of War III, Kratos is plagued by nightmares, which partially explains why he's so vulnerable to illusions and mind tricks. It also, of course, explains his unquenchable rage.

Death of Ares

Ares pleaded for his life while reminding Kratos of the day that he had saved his life, and how he had only tried to make him a great warrior. Kratos ironically recanted that Ares had "succeeded" in doing that before he impaled him through the chest and killed him.

Kratos' strength is apparently unmatched and nearly unlimited, stronger than Zeus and Hercules. This ability allows one to lift massive weights, crack or shatter stone with a single punch, break chains barehanded, and overpower mortals and beasts.

Kratos, using his power granted by Zeus, took the Box from Ares' hands and opened it. The Gods' power was unleashed, and Kratos felt its magic pour into him, which caused him to grow into a giant (though Ares was still noticeably bigger than him). Kratos' strength matched Ares, and the ultimate battle for power began.

Being so powerful, could Zeus really fear anyone or anything? Zeus was not afraid of almost anything. However, Zeus was afraid of Nyx, the goddess of night. Nyx is older and more powerful than Zeus.

Odin has pretty clearly been shown to be demonstrable more powerful than the other gods. Odin's Odinforce has far outstripped anything Zeus's magical lightning bolts have ever done.
